About Speaker : Milena Berry is the Co-Founder and CEO of PowerToFly, a company that’s fast-tracking gender equality by up-skilling and connecting women to roles in highly visible sectors and each other. She’s passionate about improving the workplace and aspires to work with companies committed to diversity and inclusion and prides herself on creating a safe space for women, trans women, non-binary or anyone elsewhere on the LGBTQI+ spectrum.
Milena is a frequent commentator on how companies can diversify their teams, especially in tech. She’s built a globally diverse team at PowerToFly, spanning 17 countries and 10 states and is especially proud to give careers to women in Palestine, Egypt, Argentina, Botswana and Ecuador among many others. Her work for PowerToFly has been recognized in Business Insider and she was named Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business in 2015. Her biggest accomplishments are her four children who constantly push her to rethink what work-life balance means.
Prior to PowerToFly, Milena spent seven years as the CTO of Avaaz.org - the largest global online activist community, with over 40 million members working on issues ranging from climate change to war on women to genocide. She built their distributed tech team from 0 to 20 (located on 6 continents) and saw the tech platform through the organization's growth from 0-33 million members.
Milena received her masters in the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU (ranked 2nd to MIT Media Lab by Newsweek) where she got involved with physical computing, robotics and wearables.
